Election Day is coming up REALLY quickly....

Vote! ~ Vintage Poster
We are so fortunate to live in a country where we can vote according to our conscience.  We are so blessed to have the ability to read and educate ourselves on the issues at hand.  We are blessed to have a voice.  Many people in history have sacrificed so much for our right to vote.  I would hate to let their sacrifices go to waste....

Votes For Women ~ Vintage Poster
I love this vintage poster above with the lady hanging a "Votes for Women" poster on a wall.  Such an awesome part of history.  I love  the plainness of the writing on the poster, the expression on her face....  And what do you think of her stylish hat?  I wonder what her name was, what her life was like....

Celebrating My Right To Vote
Inspired by this poster and the necklace I saw on Crafty Teacher Lady's site, I made myself a necklace to celebrate our right to vote (whether we are male or female).

Votes For Women Necklace
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka Mormons), we are encouraged to play a role as responsible citizens in our communities, including becoming informed about issues and voting in elections.  Our church does not endorse, promote or oppose political parties, candidates or platforms.  Rather, we as members are expected to engage in the political process in an informed and civil manner, respecting the fact that members of the Church come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and may have differences of opinion in partisan political matters. Great necklace! I voted last Thursday and was very impressed with how well organized it was. Even though there was a line, it was moving quickly. Remember to thank the volunteers working at the polls. I bet that is a tough job! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures

What a great necklace. Whenever I see the photos of the marches for the women's right to vote, I also think about the women and what their lives were like. Thanks for sharing on Tout It Tuesday! Hope to see you next week.

What a great idea. Love the necklace and found your Mormon viewpoint informative. Unfortunately, I am reading this post election and I am a disappointed voter. :( Hopefully 2014 will go better for conservatives.

Very cool necklace! One of my favorite images in another from the same approximate time period of a woman standing in front of a sign that says "Vote for who you please, but please vote!" It's such a great sentiment. :-) Thanks for sharing at The Fun In Functional!
