Mint Green Clock Supporting a Stache!
It's finally done...
This clock has been siting in my living-room, unpainted, sanded-down, and ready to go for a LONG time!!!!

Finally I drug it into the garage and got started...
The problem was, I didn't know what color or style to paint it....

Picture
Originally I had something in mind VERY colorful, but even thought  I think that is super cute, I finally decided that it would be too "busy" for our living area:  I needed something more "calm"....

So, a solid color it would be:  but now, which color?
  • White....
Trusty ol' white?
I don't know why, but I decided against it....
  • Yellow?
Maybe....
  • Finally I just did it:  mint-green it is...

and I like it:  I am happy with my decision.....

Picture
How did I end up with this clock?

I had been looking for a grandfather clock on Craigslist for a long time, but never saw one I liked...
They were all too square-ish.

So one day I walked into the thrift store, and there it was.
The exact shape I was looking for....
BUT....  It was more than I was willing to pay...
AND it had some issues, it needed some minor repairs...

Talked to the manager.  Was not willing to negotiate on price...

So I just stood there.....
A LONG time...
Twenty minutes, thirty, I don't know....
My daughter  was getting tired of it and said:  "Let's go Mom!"
But Mom wouldn't budge....
That's when I knew I HAD to buy it....

I couldn't part from it...

Isn't that terribly materialistic of me?

Picture
Mint Green Grandfather Clock - detail top
After thorough sanding and cleaning, I painted the clock with home-mixed green colored self-fabricated  chalkpaint....
Then I added a brown glaze that my neighbor just gave me from her stash last week {she was moving out of state, and couldn't take it with her...  Thanks Michele!  Enjoy your new adventures....!}.

Picture
Love the whole thing!
Anyway, I'm super happy with it, and I can't wait to finish the rest of my half-finished projects so I can show off other areas of my house....
Some more about this clock on this link

Grandfather clock with mustache.....
Do you have furniture ~that is not quite finished~ in your living areas...???  or am I the only one......??

That is a fantastic thrift store find! I absolutely love it and have always wanted a clock like that (even though I totally have no clue where I would put it). :) And I definitely have half finished projects, absolutely everywhere in my house and it's only going to get worse next wk when we start back to homeschooling.

I LOVE the color Crystelle. Sometimes you do have to pay more for something because you have to have it and it was meant to be. You still paid far less than retail I am sure :-) Thanks so much for sharing this at the party this week! I have featured this post on my Facebook page ♥

Thanks for stopping by. I love the color of your grandfather clock. These clocks look so grand in any setting, wish I had one. The folded ribbon flower is very easy to make, we used to make those in school with paper. You will enjoy making it! :)
Have a nice day!

Oh my gosh. Please disregard the above comment. I had the wrong link attached to the black and white pumpkins I also had featured this week. I was working from my iPad and somehow didn't realize my mistake. Any who, I did also feature you incredible clock. I did a painted clock for a show a couple of years ago and it didn't sell so it is still in my home. I have loved it and its multi patterned design but just last week I though about moving it to another room. The problem is that is so busy and funky looking that it won't work in a lot of the rooms. I really don't want to repaint it. May try selling it again and finding another one. Yours has inspired me to keep it much simpler this time. Love the clock. What a great find and I really like the paint treatment you gave it. You have quite the eye. Thanks so much for sharing this on this week's BeColorful.

I have a whole room where I stash unfinished/waiting-to-be-started projects! As a matter of fact, I recently posted about my problem hoarding waiting-to-be-rehabbed chairs: http://aheartfulhome.blogspot.com/2012/08/chairs-chairs-everywheres.html.
