Though my trials may be difficult,, there's always someone who has it harder.
I taught the beehives (12 and 13 year old girls) in church on Sunday, and the lesson was on "Why do we have adversity?"
I made a sock monkey to illustrate the point that Brittany makes in the enclosed video:  We may have difficult times, but we still have received blessing and talents to bless the lives of other people.
One of the things Brittany does to keep her life in perspective is to make sock monkeys and give them to hospitalized children.

Hang on, sock monkey!
The girls LOVED the sock monkey, and we will probably end up each making one as a class sometime soon.  After all: I learned a few things while I was making it;  for instance:  the arms and legs (and tail) are super-duper long if you use knee-high socks!
I think I will use crew socks next time....

But he's still cute....!  :)

Doesn't the sock monkey just melt your heart....????

Brittany receives her nutrition through a feeding tube.  Every morning she prepares her daily meals and must carry them with her always.
Watch her inspiring {sock-monkey} message below:
"The more [time and effort] you spend focusing on yourself, the more likely you are to fall into a rut and feel... sorry for yourself.  But reaching out to others, you really forget your own problems.  The joy that comes with service exceeds the difficulty in my life by a tremendous amount."

"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before.

Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty.

Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty—and I am not talking about the process of cleaning the rooms of your teenage children.

The more you trust and rely upon the Spirit, the greater your capacity to create."

Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Since I like to sew handbags, and a lot of you do too, I thought I'd post this little video I found on Mormon Messages....  It's a cute story with a cute message...

Enjoy!

Aren't these rollers and glasses hilarious!  How about the turquoise face-mask!  Awesome....

I love this little video above!  What a great lesson we all can learn from time to time.  It is so easy to see where others fall short, but it is hard to acknowledge our own mistakes and shortcomings...

My goal:  think positively about others this week...
.... and after that:  always.....
