PTT Post handbag ~ front
Because I have such a weakness for purses and anything from the Netherlands, I thought I would share these awesome bags with you....
I hope you'll like them as much as I do....      :)

My friend and blog reader Ingrid van Berchum lives in Holland (the Netherlands) and LOVES to make handbags:  a girl after my heart!
She was so generous as to share a couple of the purses she has made over the last few months, using PTT Post canvas from the actual mailbags used by the Dutch post office.

The messenger bag sewing tutorial Ingrid used (and made some minor alterations to) is available at OCD: Obsessive Crafting Disorder.

Dutch Flag Crochet Bag ~ Front
Using colors from the Dutch flag (red, white and blue) Ingrid crocheted this wonderful messenger bag using a design by Stella Roodbeen.  this is the winning design of the KreaDoe 2011 contest and was published in HobbyHandig Magazine, no. 165, Jan./Feb. 2012  (written in Dutch).

Ingrid crocheted this fab bag using Catina Cotton (red, white and blue) and Phildar cotton (tan) .

The interior and adjustable shoulder strap are also made of PTT sack fabric, but of a softer, thinner variety....

I think these Dutch vibe bags are so marvelous.....

With Christmas coming up, it is time to make some fun bags for your girlfriends,  sisters, and moms (yes, that includes mom-in-law), maybe even your daughters...  (Isn't it fun when little girls grow big...????)
So I thought this would be a great time to post another free purse pattern:  this time it is the Ronda Handbag sewing pattern.

The Ronda Handbag was featured in Haute Handbags Magazine, Spring 2010 issue.

Super Cute Pockets on the side: handy too!
I love the Ronda Handbag so much!
When I carry it around it surprises me how super convenient it is!

I love the pockets on the side.  So easy to get to!  Even my husband can now find my keys!

The front and back are simple, but so fun when you use a specialty fabric with a fun print or so....
The sides have those handy dandy pockets right below a playful tie....
So adorable...

And inside:  more pockets, even one with a zipper!

And the straps are long enough that you can go shopping hands-free!  So convenient........
Just hang that purse over your shoulder, and walk around the store.  No worries about keeping track of your cart and where your purse might be....
Love it....

Potato Sack Edition of the Ronda Handbag
I used to sell this sewing pattern on Etsy, and this is what one customer said:

"Yahoo! What a fun purse to make and your directions were so concise and easy to follow. I'd never done a zipper pocket and loved it! My bag is adorable even if I do say so!! Thanks again to your creative pattern and potato sack! My sack says Penny Pincher and thanks to your good prices for your pattern and sack, I'm happy to say I am! Your company is great! I know I will be referring friends to you as soon as they see my new purse!"

What a sweetheart.....

PictureRachel Handbag - Free purse sewing pattern - Crystelle Boutique
Time to make another sewing pattern available to all of you sewing seamstresses out there.
September is a great month to pull out that sewing machine and get to creating....

The Rachel Handbag is super cute and convenient too...!

It was my best-selling pattern when I still had my Etsy shop... {in my former life... lol!}
I love the pockets on the front to keep my life somewhat more organized...
Knotted handle attached to rings for fun.

The Rachel Handbag was featured in Haute Handbags Magazine, Fall 2009

At that time sewing with burlap was a 'new' concept and the article kept my email inbox jam-packed full...!!!  It was a pleasant surprise...  :-)

Since then everyone and their dog has started using burlap, but I must say it is STILL fun and cute and all that good stuff!

P.S.  The potato sack sewing tips are also included

What.....??!?!!!????
Crystelle Boutique is going out of business?????

Well, yes and no.....

After some considerate consideration {lol!} it has become time for me to slow down a bit with my Etsy shops and spend more time on the everyday Mom stuff....
I am a lucky girl!  My husband has worked hard in order to be in a position that his children can have a stay-at-home mom....  And what does mom do?  She spends all her 'free' time listing, selling and shipping Etsy products....  Hmmmmm.....
So I decided to 'quit business' so to speak, and get with the program....

The Vintage Market we held last weekend was the kick-of to my Etsy clearance sales.....
It was a HUGE success.  Lotsa  people came, lots of old faces were warmly greeted, and new friends were made.    We drank lots of lemonade {thanks kids!!} and good times were had by all....

And so many people said:  "This is so fun!  You should do this every year!"  Well, let's just say: I would LOVE to but.... that kind-of defeats the whole purpose of the event in the first place.... {heeheehee!!!}

So if you have seen something in my shops that you absolutely love and can't live without, let me know, and I will give you a good deal.  In the mean time:  my website will continue, as I will keep posting about my creative projects.  Can't just turn off my creative spirit....!!!!

Have a great day!
Marijke

p.s.  posting some photo's of some of the fun displays from the Vintage Market....
Au revoir!

Mayka (from CindyMars) recently purchased some flour sacks from our potatoboutique.etsy.com, and created some wonderful bags out of them!  Let me show you the pictures she sent me:

Convertible Hobo/Messenger Bag Made From a Flour Sack
I love the way this Convertible Hobo/Messenger Flour Sack Bag turned out!
Wow!  She upcycled the flour sack, and added leather and denim for a practical, classy look.....
Isn't she so talented....????

Zippered Flour Sack Pouch for Electronic Notebook
It's time to treat your Kindle / Nook (or other electronic notebook) to a fun warm and cozy storage bag to call her own!  How about this zippered flour sack pouch Mayka made....????
I love it....?
{As I'm sure any electronic device would too..... ;)...}

Thank you, Mayka, for sharing your photo's....!!!Doesn't it inspire you to make some fun handbags too....????
It does me.....!!!!
Yee-hah...!!!

What things have you made from flour sacks?
What wonderfully creative ideas are bursting from your brain?

Rachel Handbag in Upcylced Fabrics
Look at how fabulous this handbag is!!!!  It was made by Josée Landry from Bouclenoire.....
Isn't it absolute stunning....???

Josée used our Rachel Handbag Pattern
It's made out of different men's wool pants, some left over corduroy, and fabric remnants...
She tried to make something on the textural side ;)
I really like it, she should be very proud of herself for how it turned out....!
As you can see she changed the pockets on the front  to make the cross body bag style with a 48" strap.....

Well done Josée!
And thanks so much for sharing.....
It's beautiful......  I love the flowers....
